Welcome to our humble abode where having now restored the old Kokani home, we are able to offer the option of Homestay - Holiday Home Rental in Kokan. Nestled away in the village of Hedavi, Guhagar, Ratnagiri the house comes with an attractive front elevation and vista.

Would you rather stay in a bog standard hotel room, crowded resort, Bed and Breakfast or a lodging and boarding facility when holidaying in Kokan? The run-of-the-mill options are an everyday experience. At Jogai, we hope to let you experience living in an authentic Kokani Home. This homestay facility in Hedavi will offer something few properties can. Come check us out.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Vacation in a peaceful, serene, idyllic location in the remote village of Hedavi, Kokan. You get to experience the quirky architecture of an old ancestral home dating to the late 1800s to early 1900s. The first floor was added in 1942 with a vantage balcony. The layout oozes the character of a typical Kokani home - Padvi's on all four sides, an Oti, the Mazghar, Devghar, Svaypakghar and a maze of interconnected rooms with period features.

The stay comes with all the basic needs - a hot water geyser, kettle for tea and coffee, cutlery and crockery to use during the stay. The home displays now near-extinct architecture and period features. In the past, toilets and bath huts were 30-50 feet away from the house. We have accommodated these in the house and offer one bathroom and a separate WC and sink. The house thus is well suited for a family of 4 people but can additionally take 2 more guests. Two double queen-size beds with 20cm high pocket sprung mattresses (as ceiling heights are low) are offered with 2 additional single folding cots and mattresses. The rooms downstairs have ceiling fans and upstairs the rooms have wall fans. Complimentary AC is on offer for the two double bedrooms - we do not charge extra for this additional luxury as electricity outages can happen on occasion and we would rather you did not pay higher rates for a facility we cannot guarantee.

There are local eateries that will serve you local Konkani cuisine. The house is strictly non-smoking, alcohol and non-veg food are not permitted to be consumed on-site. Any crockery and cutlery used must be washed personally during the homestay or domestic help can be requested at extra costs.

Signals can be weak in the village and we encourage our guests to consider this as a fantastic opportunity to holiday and take a break from the daily hassles of life now driven by our continuous association with gadgets and social media ðŸ˜ƒ!

Complementary free WiFi is offered - speeds are limited given the remote location and service outages may happen, it's part of the experience of staying somewhere remote.

Sightseeing around Hedavi, Kokan

The house is located amid 2 acres of land. Surrounding houses are similarly detached and you should thus expect solitude and tranquility. We are a stone's throw away from the famous Dashbhuja Laxmi Ganesh Temple built by the Peshwas. The Laxmi Narayan Temple is within walking distance and Swami Samarth Math is only 4 houses away. Hedavi Beach is a short drive or 20 min walk and in monsoons known for the Bhaman Gal experience where the waves flood a rocky gorge and the water springs upwards up to 10-15 meters. A ferry service that accommodates cars and passengers from nearby Taswal to Jaigad offers a great day trip to the Jaigad Fort and Ganpati Pule just an hour's drive away.

The Vyadeshwar temple, the pristine beach as well as the Lighthouse in Guhagar are worthy of a visit. Not too far is Parshuram Temple and the Velneshwar Shiva Temple, again a town that sports a rock-free beach.

Not to be left behind, however, is the famous Bhaman Gal, unique to the rocky beach of Hedavi. It is a naturally created gorge in the rocks by waves beating up the hilly terrain. This rare experience is a sight to witness in person.
